Mt. Rainier

On a family adventure Saturday, we went to Manchester State Park.  This was just too beautiful of a view to pass up.  And luckily, my hand held camera took great pictures of Mt. Rainier.  I just wanted to share them with you!

O.k., so Mt Rainier AND mushrooms:)  Usually I just see huge brown mushy 'shrooms that look disgusting.  I liked how white and cute they looked.  I don't know, just seeing them simply brought me  pleasure:)

Brynn's First Basketball Game

Brynn had her first basketball game last Wednesday.  She's the tallest (of course) on her team.

This is the only non-blurry picture I have of her.  

I shot some video of her game, too.  I was so excited when I actually got her making a shot!  But then I came home and realized I didn't have it recording at that time like I thought I had.  GRRRRRR!

Brynn is the tallest, which also makes her uniform shorts the shortest:)  Still modest, but shorter than she would normally wear.

Way to go, Brynn!  Her team won 43 to 10, WOOT-WOOT!

Valentine's 2010

This year for Valentine's Day, I gave each of the girls a BIG & SOFT stuffed animal.  They LOVED them!

Terry is the bestest dad in the world!  He gave them each 3 beautiful red roses and Pez candies.  He also gave me a dozen roses and a sweet bag of Reese's peanut butter cups.   And to top it off, he made us all ham & cheese omelets.  He's the king of omelets!

It was a great Valentine's Day!

More Head Bands & Accessories

I have decided to sell these Head Bands and Accessories on an order by order basis.  I have enjoyed making them for my girls as well as for friends.   Spread the word!

These crocheted head bands are made with Caron Simply Soft Yarn and snap closed at the nape of the neck. I make them in widths of 2", 3", or 4". Crocheted accessories are also made from Caron Simply Soft Yarn and are glued to clips that are interchangeable to allow for matching your girl's outfit. The head band is $5 and the accessory is $3.

4" wide Heather Gray head band with a 2.5" white daisy accessory.

3" White head band with a 2.5" Loopy Flower made with 3 different shades of brown yarn.

4" wide Chocolate head band with a 3" Chocolate 2 layered flower accessory.

2" White head band with a snap closing. Smaller Soft Pink Daisy with a yellow center is 2", the larger one is 2.5". Black peace heart with white edging and white 1/8" ribbon measures 3".

Small Soft Pink Daisy with a yellow center is 2", Large one is 2.5".

White Hippy Flower with a yellow center is 3.25".

Heart accessories are 3". Peace signs are made with 1/8" ribbon. Ribbon bows are tied with 1/4" ribbon.

Brown Loopy Flower & the Light Blue Daisy with a cream center is 2.5". Light Blue Hippy Flower with a yellow center is 3.25". Dark Purple Rose with dark yellow center is 2.75".

Heart accessory is with and off white decorative button and 1/4" white ribbon tied in a bow is 3". Shamrock on white Loopy Flower is 2.5". Lavendar 6 Petal Flower with a yellow center is 2.75".

Happy 23rd Birthday!

Kara did a magnificent job on my birthday cake.  White cake with home made chocolate frosting and NO SPRINKLES!  The girls didn't like the last request.  But you know what?  It's my birthday and I can  have a "sprinkle free" cake if I want:)

Bring out the oxygen masks!

All of the girls went in together to buy me an iPod Nano.  Apparently this one can make videos as well as tune in to the radio.  So far, the only thing I know how to do with it is charge it.

Terry gave me a red guitar stand.  Yeah!!   Now I can just have my guitar sitting in the corner, ready to be pulled up and played at anytime.  No more digging into the huge guitar case to get ready to play with Kara!

Finger on the Mend

Isn't it beautiful!  O.k., so my finger is a bit on the dry side, but it's stitch free!  I can now play the piano and was able to play the solo I've worked for MONTHS on in Sacrament Meeting today.  The guitar isn't as agreeable yet.  But I'll get there.  Kara will just have a lot to catch me up on:)

Words from the wise:  Do not use kitchen knives to slice bagels.  Invest in a bagel slicer.

It was deeeeeeeeeellllish!

Ouch!

Thursday afternoon I began to slice open a pre-cut bagel for Livvy.  They say pre-cut, but they're never totally sliced all the way through.  So I always end up having to pull out a knife to finish their job.  I just received new knives and I'm not used to them yet.  I love 'em, though!  

The knife sliced through that bagel like butter.  Apparently the job wasn't tough enough because it continued to slice through my finger.  Ouch.  As soon as I looked at my finger, I knew that stitches were in short order.  Brynn called my piano students' mom to cancel lessons at the last minute.  Emma prepared a paper towel for me to wrap up my finger.  I had bled through it as well as several tissues by the time I got myself to the Emergency Room.  

The guy who stitched me up was great.  His name is James.  He showed me how and where to apply pressure to my finger to cut off the blood flow.  It was soooooo cool!  When the bleeding stopped, I was totally fascinated with how the layers of skin & tissue looked.  I just looked & looked with feelings of awe & joy.  If you've wondered if I have a sensitive stomach to this sort of gruesomeness, let me just set you straight:  I LOVE this kind of stuff!  If I didn't have to go to school to learn how to be a medical assistant or something of that sort in the medical field, I'd be ALL OVER IT!  

The assistant helping James didn't have as strong a stomach as I thought one should have for the career.  She struggled with the pressure thing & couldn't keep the blood at bay at first.  She kept turning her head away.  I watched what was going on more than she did.  I asked lots and lots of questions and James was a willing teacher.  Everything he explained made total sense to me.  I learned a lot and wish I could sponge up some more.  But it's not worth slicing another finger for.

The assistant gauzed my finger up.  I held back my giggles of the thoughts that ran through my not-so-clean mind.  Once I was home and things settled down, I took a sharpie & decorated my finger.  I only had to wear the gauze for 24 hours.  

As soon as the 24 hours were up, I got rid of the wrapping job, cleaned my finger, took some pictures, and then applied a band-aid.  My cut is almost as long as the sterile pad of the band-aid!  I'm out of commission with playing the piano, guitar, and organ.  This totally bums me out because I've been practicing a lot the last 2 months in preparation for a solo I'm scheduled to play on the piano in church on Valentine's Day.  I hope I'll be able to still do it, but I won't know for a few more days.  Stitches come out Thursday.  Wish me luck!
