We Did It!
One year ago, we challenged ourselves to hold family scripture & prayer every day for one year. We kept track of our progress, with the consequence of a missed day resulting in having to start the 365 day goal all over again. We had a few close calls, you know, pulling all the kids out of bed at midnight, gathering in the bathroom (or in the doorway) while rotating through baths, and sometimes we pulled out the scriptures in the van while driving to the gazillion places we needed to be in Utah this summer. But we never missed a day! And thank goodness for speaker phones! We did family scripture and prayer every day for 365 straight days!!
Our long awaited reward, going to the Great Wolf Lodge, came to pass on Labor Day. We had so much fun! I struggled with the camera most of the time. So the pictures I took didn't turn out as well as I hoped. But at least I'm only in one of them:)
We stayed 2 days and 1 night. The indoor water park is amazing! Other than too many bikini clad icks walking around, it was a fun experience for our whole family. Of course, the squirrels want do it all again!
O.k, but next time, THEY get to pay for it!

I've had more than enough of this hot weather!
It makes me cranky.

Gone to Pots
Over the weekend, our refridgerator's relay died, leaving us scrambling to save all our food in the freezer & fridge. The repairman came out this afternoon and did his job and more. Once he had fixed the problem, he noticed the water line leaking. Where's the valve that turns off the water to the fridge water line????? What do I know? It wasn't anywhere obvious. So I said it was probably under the house. Access to it is through our pantry floor. Larry (the repairman) offered to go under & look only to come right back out a little on the wet side.
"Your toilet is leaking under the house. It looks like it's been going on for a while. I need to wash my hands and arms and I need something to dry off with," Larry said. Larry didn't see a valve for the water line. As soon as he got wet and realized where it was coming from, he quickly removed himself. Gross! It's a good thing I was on his afternoon schedule and not his morning one.
So the fridge works, minus the water/ice cubes and $200 from our pocket. Toilet ring needs to be replaced. Until then, toilet water is shut off and an Out of Order sign is taped to the toilet lid. Terry was ecstatic with this wonderful news! He enthusiastically crawled under the house to investigate.
Meanwhile, I've had pizza and a Diet Coke and have to pee like a race horse. So I dutifully climb the stairs to use the bathroom. 90 seconds later I flush and wash my hands. Kara is Terry's messenger. She called for me. Feeling 10 pounds lighter and slightly uplifted, I galloped down the stairs.
Terry said, "Just found a much bigger problem!" The main pipe for drainage from the upstairs bathrooms is gushing water. It's a good thing he knows how to swim!

I turn to the squirrels and say, "If you need to pee, use the bushes outside!" We can't use the downstairs toilet and can't use the upstairs toilets or bathtubs. The squirrels didn't like that idea. But what to do?
I wish we had invested in one of these. It would be in full use right now. Hey, I think I remember our bishop getting one for Christmas......?
