"Growth" Spurt

Oh my! Look how much I've "grown"!!!

My squirrels are having way too much fun with the camera.  However, with a house full of girls, this act is bound to happen sooner or later!

Short Shots of Squirrels

Our squirrels are quite a bit taller than the average child. That is what makes these "Short Shots" so much fun!! You Squirrels are so cool!

Stinky Beach!

It was a perfect day, around 80 degrees! So after a brief visit to the Poe-dunk library, the squirrels thought it would be a great idea to play on the playground that's next to the water.

I think it was a coverup for what they REALLY wanted to do: Play on the "Stinky Beach"!!

So being the extremely nice & encredibly awesome mom that I am (wink wink!), I agreed. It really was a gorgeous day!
[I have no idea why all of this part is underlined & doing everything I don't want it to do. GRRR!]

They went straight to the rocks & water! They love to look for sea shells & peek under the rocks for small crabs.

It's not the best water for wading. It's full of gross, smelly green stuff. But the squirrels don't care!

Look!! Found some tiny crabs! This is a black one that Munchy & some of her friends found.
This small, light brown one is a "side walker". Ha-ha-ha, they tickle!

Bri found the shell with barnacles on the inside of it. That black crab probably feels right at home.

A common find is crab carcasses. The seagulls love to pick out their innards & leave the rest for my girls to play with. Even their friends enjoyed playing with them!

Bri found the carcass of a Spider Crab! Sooo cool!

If the squirrels are lucky, they can find a sand dollar or two!

We saw a lot of our friends at the beach. It was a great day for everyone to be out enjoying the sunshine! A fantastic day to make a great memory!

Happy 4th of July!

Look at what Munchy, Marie, Em-em and I made out of paper mache!! We spent hours on it. Mom didn't want to look at our mess so we did it outside . . . in the warm sun.

We painted our faces.  I did it all by myself!!

Munchy was trying to light the firework with her butt towards the camera
so mom got her butt!!

Mom wasn't too fond of the smell.

Neither was I.

Munchy had me paint a ladybug on her right cheek; then on her left cheek, a butterfly.

Em-em painted a red, white and blue firework on Marie's left cheek and Em-em painted a red, white blue smiley on her own right cheek.

My Language

Today has been a day when almost everything that anyone says to me is in a different language. I haven't had one of these days for a while. I just wish they would all teach me this language! It's very frustrating. I knew it was bad when at dinner Munchy specifically said, "Hey mom, ajsd';rofja'c;oruc;v juer'oakjdf "? I looked at her & said, "Sorry, what"? By this time all of the squirrels were listening & watching the exchange. Munchy patiently said again, "Mom, ajsdl;ifn ;alidurja;lsici cjl;kyroqpa;lkdjf"? I stared at everyone with a profound, yet familiar, puzzled look on my face. Then Bri came to my rescue! She started shaking her head from side to side & whispered, "no". Thank you!! I trusted she knew what was said & what the answer would obviously be, so I just answered Munchy with a noncommittal "no". I still haven't a clue as to what was being asked.

So with a pajama morning, preparations noncommittally made for the 4th, a nap, dinner taken care of (thanks, again Bri!), a "run away" trip to Walmart (where I threw a bit of a tantrum that was witnessed by friend; I know she said some things in the different language to me, as well), squirrels bathed & tucked into bed, a half hour phone chat with my husband, and a llllooooonng warm shower under my belt, I still can't seem to make myself go to bed. It's 12:30 a.m. What is a woman to do??? MAKE OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE DOUGH, OF COURSE!!! Yep, and I'm scooping it right out of the bowl!!!! Mmmmmmmm......it is so ooey-gooey-yummy-grubbin' good!! Hey Laura, are you still awake?? You, too, Jenny!! I'm willing to share!

I feel so much better! I just wish everyone would speak my language: Cookie Dough
