Yesterday, we drifted a bit from our routine. I didn't have ward choir to go to, so I ended up taking a nap. I didn't have a plan for dinner, so I ended up making grilled cheese sandwiches for the girls, and bean & cheese quesadillas for Terry & I. While we were eating, Terry received a phone call that took a bit of time from his dinner. By the time he finished his dinner, I was laying on the bed with a stomach ache (again). We totally forgot about doing family scripture/prayer before he left for Stake Choir. I ended up staying on the bed for the rest of the night. The girls watched their shows, as usual. But they ended up just popping microwave popcorn for the treat (I couldn't throw something together on account of my stupid stomach). At 9 p.m., Terry came into the room and asked if I was ready to do scriptures/prayer. I said no. I was watching "Merlin" and it was too interesting to be interrupted. Besides, it's summer and the girls can watch it, too if they want. That's when we both noticed the family room was vacant of the 4 squirrels. What? Where did they go? After Terry investigated, they all returned to the family room. They had all voluntarily gone up to bed! Whose kids ever do that?!? When I told them how awesome they were for doing that, and then said they could stay up and watch "Merlin", they were a bit confused. But when I pointed out that we still had scripture reading to do and we weren't going to do it until 10 p.m., the light illuminated their understanding.
We are the luckiest parents to have such diligent and obedient kids! They continue to amaze us every day:)
